New Tool to Track Certificate of Need Information

July 24, 2019

The Washington State Department of Health recently launched a new feature on the Certificate of Need (CON) program website that provides enhanced tracking and search functions for projects where the review is in process on or after July 1, 2019. WSHA has repeatedly expressed to the Department a need to be more user-friendly and we are pleased to see this change.

The Project Status page provides an option for simplified tracking of letters of intent, exemption requests and applications. While this information was previously available on DOH website, the webpage provides a greater accessibility for the information. Information regarding prior CON requests can still be accessed on the DOH website based on the type of information (e.g. Letter of Intent, Decisions).

WSHA appreciates the Department’s work to increase information availability and transparency for CON information. WSHA also will continue to advance its members’ strong interest in having the Department improve the process for CON applications, including meeting timelines and deadlines.
