WSHA members celebrate National Hospital Week across the state

Happy National Hospital Week! At WSHA, we are constantly impressed by the dedication Washington hospitals and health systems bring to serving their patients. Throughout the week, WSHA members have taken the opportunity to celebrate hospital staff, highlight the important work that goes into maintaining health care services and offer education around services offered.

Overlake Medical Center & Clinics
Overlake Medical Center & Clinics is hosting a three-day celebration starting Tuesday, May 14, themed “Together for Safety”, an event combining Healthcare week, Nurses week and Patient & Staff Safety Awareness week.  The occasion highlights Overlake’s commitment to patient and staff safety, opportunities for staff to advance their education, as well as their appreciation for all their employees do each day to provide compassionate care.  There are educational booths, giveaways, games and activities throughout the event, plus classes or events such as Care of the Caregiver, Stop the Bleed and our DAISY of the Year Award presentation.

Kittitas Valley Healthcare
Kittitas Valley Healthcare has a variety of events taking place throughout the week to celebrate National Hospital Week. The hospital provided lunch for employees on Monday and organized a cookie/fruit bar on Tuesday. All employees were automatically entered into a drawing to win one of five $100 Visa gift cards, and on-site massage therapists are available Thursday. Throughout the week, Kittitas Valley Healthcare recognized employees during announcements, including hospital patient care and ancillary staff, primary care clinic staff, specialty clinic staff and support services staff. The week will culminate with Service Award Ceremonies recognizing employees celebrating “milestone” years.

Skyline Hospital
Skyline Hospital is thanking its employees for their work and recognizing National Hospital Week through employee celebration events and awards. The week started with a continental breakfast on Monday, a frozen yogurt bar on Tuesday and a burger and brat bar and dessert potluck on Wednesday. There was also an Awards Ceremony on Wednesday. On Thursday, Skyline Hospital staff are invited to enjoy carrot cake and fruit trays. Throughout the week, there will be gift card drawings every day.

Newport Hospital and Health Services
Newport Hospital and Health Services is celebrating National Hospital Week through recognizing employees and departments for their hard work in service of the hospital. Monday recognized Acute Care, OB, Pharmacy and ER. Tuesday recognized Laboratory and Radiology & Clinic. Wednesday recognized Surgery, LTC, Activities, Social Services, HR and QA & Infection Control. Thursday recognizes Dietary, Purchasing, Engineering, Environmental Services, IS and Foundation & RMV. Friday will recognize Rehab, Accounting, PFS, Admitting, Administration and Education & Care Coordinators. Throughout the week, employees will also be treated to breakfast, snacks, an employee BBQ and a celebration cake.

WhidbeyHealth Medical Center and Clinics
National Hospital Week celebrations are coming to WhidbeyHealth all week. Hospital Week activities include a complementary meal from the café, complementary hungry hour snacks and complementary coffee and muffins. Managers are serving meals all week to thank staff. At the WhidbeyHealth Medical Center, a daily raffle is taking place for month-long exclusive parking spots. At off-site locations, coffee and “goodies” will be raffled-off.

Lincoln Hospital & Clinics
Lincoln Hospital & Clinics has recently been focusing on compassion fatigue through retreats and trainings for staff, so the hospital decided to structure celebrating National Hospital Week around that theme. Throughout the week, employees were given gift bags, participated in a food drive, attended an Employee Appreciation BBQ and received Years of Service awards.
