Washington Hospital Services Industry Partner Merritt Hawkins has written a paper featured in the March 2016 issue of Health Affairs. The piece is authored by Phillip Miller, vice president of communications, and offers a perspective on the changing nature of the medical profession itself. Entitled, The Medical Profession’s Future: A Struggle Between Caring for Patients and Bottom-Line Pressures, the paper contends that a cascading number of bureaucratic duties are undermining physician morale, altering physician practice patterns and undermining the physician’s traditional role as a patient advocate. Much of the data used to support this argument is derived from the national survey of more than 20,000 physicians that Merritt Hawkins conducted for The Physicians Foundation in 2014. The piece can be viewed here. To learn more about Merritt Hawkins or any of our other Industry Partners, please visit our website or contact Paul Unsworth at (206) 577-1806. (Paul Unsworth)
