With Medicare’s open enrollment deadline quickly approaching, members are telling us about the value of WSHA’s educational brochure, developed to contrast traditional Medicare with Medicare Advantage.
“The WSHA materials on Medicare Advantage provide clear and important education and help our patients understand the questions they should be asking about Medicare Advantage. Because some Medicare Advantage plans have exited Mason County, Mason Health is sending information including WSHA’s brochure to all our Medicare Advantage patients during open enrollment to help them make informed decisions about whether to enroll in Medicare Advantage and, if they enroll, about their plan choice. We encourage other hospitals to do the same,” said Steve Leslie, chief financial officer of Mason Health in Shelton.
These materials help address growing concerns that people did not fully understand coverage differences between Medicare plans, and were sometimes surprised with their level of coverage and access to local providers. In addition, the factsheet offers questions to ask to help people make the best choice for their healthcare needs. The brochure was distributed to hospital leaders in early October.
