Let’s focus on rural health care: It’s time for another trip to Chelan

June 11, 2019

We’re quickly approaching the 43nd Annual Rural Hospital Leadership Conference, June 23-26 at Campbell’s Resort in Chelan. If you’ve already registered, we look forward to seeing you there. If you haven’t, be sure to do so soon. All the conference details are available online, as well as the easy-to-use registration portal.

This year’s conference includes an impressive selection of plenary speakers and even more breakout sessions hosted by expert WSHA staff and community partners. We are excited to announce that new this year, attendees will enjoy a hospital members-only dinner at Tsillan Winery, included with registration. We will also be continuing the vendor exhibition – last year’s first ever exhibition received a strong, positive response. This allows attendees to get information directly from vendors and learn more about the services they can offer your facility to keep improving care you deliver every day.

It is my pleasure to tell you about this year’s lineup of talented speakers to challenge and inform you as we delve into topics around governance, advocacy and safety, including:

  • Stephanie Land, author of Maid, will explore issues of poverty and stigma surrounding those working to survive and navigate the social safety net
  • Kevin Hines, mental health advocate and storyteller, award-winning speaker, author and filmmaker, will share his message of living mentally healthy
  • Tony Buettner, explorer and entrepreneur of Blue Zones, will showcase the nine habits that connect the Blue Zones together in longevity and health
  • A variety of breakout sessions, which will explore partnering with communities to improve rural health, the inside scoop on the 2019 legislative session, financial oversight and challenges for board members, and more.

Of course, all the Chelan traditions will be back, including the golf tournament, the return of the ice cream social, Sunday cocktail reception, Monday wine tasting and Tuesday barbecue on the beach. There will be plenty of time for you to get to know and learn from peers throughout the state. We’ve been looking forward to this year’s conference all spring, and we can’t wait to see you there!
