Join us in commenting on CMS’ new proposed rule on Medicaid Fiscal Accountability

January 24, 2020

CMS has proposed a new rule on Medicaid Fiscal Accountability that could result in cuts in Washington to the hospitals and the state. WSHA is taking it very seriously – it threatens both the Safety Net Assessment Program as well as our state’s use of Intergovernmental Transfers. I urge all WSHA members to join us in submitting comments to implore CMS to withdraw its proposal. It is critical hospitals engage and CMS hears the voice of our united health care community

The proposed rules could have a substantial negative impact on people who rely on Medicaid hospital services in our state and the caregivers who serve them. We encourage you to include this potential harm to access to care for Medicaid patients in your comments.

Our draft letter has been sent to all WSHA members for your use. Where it makes sense for our state, this letter aligns with American Hospital Association’s (AHA) comments on this issue.

Comments are due by Feb. 1, but AHA is suggesting they be submitted by the preceding Friday, Jan. 31. Comments should be submitted electronically via regulations.gov. Please copy us on any comments you submit to help us strengthen our advocacy efforts. Specific questions about our comment letter can be directed to Andrew Busz at AndrewB@wsha.org or 206-216-2533.

I hope you will join us in standing up for affordable and accessible care in our state.
