Kaiser Permanente has reversed its decision to no longer cover Island Hospital primary care physicians for patients with an Individual Medicare Advantage Plan. Initially, Island Hospital primary care providers, including doctors, nurses and practitioners, would not have been in-network for over 1,000 patients.
Following the reversal, Island Hospital interim CEO and Chief Financial Officer Elise Cutter stated, “We believe that Kaiser reversed their decision based on patients expressing their concern regarding this change and the realization of the importance our providers have to their network. This is testimony to the outstanding care our providers deliver to their patients each and every day.”
Island Hospital’s full statement is available online. Remember, open enrollment is currently ongoing through Dec. 15.
