Introducing AHA’s Vitality Index

May 25, 2023

WSHA is partnering with the American Hospital Association to unite the industry’s data in the AHA’s Vitality Index. Many hospitals are facing an increasingly challenging reimbursement environment and unprecedented cost containment pressures. Hospitals often lack critical data to help address the challenges caused by commercial payer issues. Save the date to join WSHA for a webinar at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, to learn more.

The AHA Vitality Index™ empowers health care providers to make better decisions through claims data securely and directly sourced from hospitals. Hospitals can harness the power of their aggregated, de-identified information, anonymously sharing the analysis with each other for the good of the industry.

The aggregated data allows hospitals to securely and anonymously compare their performance with their peers and compare their experience with payers across their state and county. The Vitality Index helps hospitals discern between issues that are isolated to a single hospital or health system and those that exist across a state or the country.

The Vitality Index arms the hospital field with the data it needs to hold commercial health plans accountable for burdensome practices while also enabling individual hospitals to benchmark their financial and operational performance on key metrics.
