Inslee signs law to help providers, cities, counties confront opioid crisis

May 17, 2017

Governor Jay Inslee this week signed into law HB 1427, to help address the opioid epidemic in Washington State. This bill was one of WSHA’s high priority bills for the session. It makes needed changes to our state’s prescription monitoring program to give providers the information they need to give appropriate and safe prescriptions. This bill was based on the recommendations of the WSHA/WSMA Opioid Task Force and the King County Heroin and Opioid Task Force. Read the full press release here.

“This bill makes needed changes to our state’s prescription monitoring program that will give physicians and providers on the front lines of the opioid crisis access to the information they need to prescribe appropriately and safely,” WSHA President and CEO Cassie Sauer said. (Ian Corbridge)
