At WSHA’s request, HCA and Myers and Stauffer, LLC recently hosted a webinar to provide hospitals with background and additional information on their audit of Medicaid electronic medical records (EHR) incentive payments. Unfortunately, no recording of the webinar is available, but HCA has provided the webinar slides and a set of Frequently Asked Questions. On August 17, Myers and Stauffer, HCA’s contracted auditing firm, sent requests for information to 68 hospitals that received incentive payments. These hospitals had not previously been audited by the federal Office of the Inspector General.
We also understand HCA plans for Myers and Stauffer to re-audit the 20 hospitals that had been previously audited by OIG once a separate contract is approved by CMS. For more background on this issue, see our previous Fiscal Watch article. (Andrew Busz, andrewb@wsha.org)
