HRSA Uninsured Fund Closing Claims Submissions – Other Funding May be Available

March 24, 2022

The federal HRSA COVID-19 Uninsured Program (UIP) will stop accepting claims as the funds appropriated by Congress for the program are running out. The program provided payment to hospitals and providers for COVID-19 related testing, treatment, and vaccine administration services provided to uninsured patients. The program stopped accepting claims for testing and treatment March 22, 2022 and will stop accepting new claims for vaccine administration 11:59 PM on April 5, 2022. Note the cutoff is based on claim submission dates, not the dates of service. Claims submitted after these dates will not be processed. Payment for claims submitted prior to these dates will be subject to the remaining available funding.

More information is available on the HRSA website. Payment for services may be available for uninsured patients that are eligible under the state’s Alien Emergency Medical (AEM) program and through a $35 million Health Care Authority grant program.  (Andrew Busz, Andrewb@wsha.org).
