The Washington State Hospital Association is pleased with the direction provided by Gov. Inslee’s May 18 proclamation on non-urgent medical and dental procedures.
The association appreciates the Governor’s leadership in bringing together a wide range of health care community leaders to advise on the guidelines included in the proclamation. The work group was a collaborative effort led by WSHA chair-elect and MultiCare Health System CEO Bill Robertson and Washington State Nurses Association Executive Director Sally Watkins.
The proclamation allows medical, dental and dental specialty facilities, practices and practitioners to offer non-urgent health care and dental services, procedures and surgeries, provided they act in good faith and with reasonable clinical judgement. This updated guidance with emphasis on clinical judgement will assist clinicians in providing care for their patients.
The proclamation provides the flexibility needed to ensure people have access to the health care services they need, while preserving the ability for each community to respond to COVID-19 as needed.
