The Health Care Authority (HCA) announced it will allow hospitals and providers administering COVID-19 vaccines to Medicaid patients to bill HCA or enrollee’s managed care organization for the administration of the vaccine using what is commonly known as a roster, or alternatively as batch, or template billing process. The process will be available May 1 and can be used for services provided on or after April 1. This may reduce administrative burden for providers. More information is in the HCA announcement. Instructions on how to create a billing template are in the ProviderOne Billing and Resource Guide.
Effective April 1, HCA increased the Medicaid payment for COVID-19 vaccine administration to $40 per dose to match the increase previously made for Medicare on March 15. See our previous Fiscal Watch article for more information. (Andrew Busz, AndrewB@wsha.org)
