Funding opportunity announcements from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has two funding opportunities currently available for eligible applicants.

The Emergency Department Alternatives to Opioids Demonstration Program is an excellent opportunity for hospitals reviewing their WSHA/WSMA Opioid Prescribing Reports and looking for implementation support to reduce unnecessary acute opioid prescribing in the emergency department (ED). The purpose of the program is to develop and implement alternatives to opioids for pain management in hospitals and ED settings. Eligibility is statutorily limited to domestic nonprofit hospitals and emergency departments, including free-standing emergency departments. The application deadline is Tuesday, March 17, 2020

The Grants to Implement Zero Suicide in Health Systems is for health systems interested in implementing comprehensive, multi-setting suicide prevention. The purpose of the Zero Suicide program is to implement suicide prevention and intervention programs for individuals who are 25 years of age or older. This program is designed to raise awareness of suicide, establish referral processes and improve care and outcomes for such individuals who are at risk for suicide. Recipients will implement the Zero Suicide model throughout their health system. The application deadline is Monday, March 30, 2020.
