Fentanyl Epidemic Townhall recording now available

April 5, 2023

Washington State has witnessed an increase in opioid-related deaths across the state, with Yakima County seeing a 34% increase in opioid-related deaths between 2020 and 2021. On March 23, 2023, Pacific Northwest University in Yakima held a local event, Fentanyl Epidemic Townhall, addressing the growing public health crisis presented by the presence of fentanyl in our communities.

This 90-minute panel discussion featured speakers from the UW Center for Community-Engaged Drug Education, Epidemiology, and Research (CEDEER), local Yakima medical providers, and other local collaborators. Education was provided about various substances, opioid use disorder and strategies for prevention. The recording is now available for viewing. (Brittany Weiner)
