WSHA and the Association of Public Hospital Districts (AWPHD) will host a three-part webinar series between September and November to support rural hospitals that serve patients with substance use disorders. The series, “Substance Use Disorder Care in Rural Settings: Reducing Barriers to Care,” will offer education on a variety of topics and will spotlight the work being done at rural hospitals. The series includes:

  • How Stigma Impacts Access to Care”: 12-1:30 p.m. Sept. 13
  • “Skills to Improve Patient Engagement: Motivational Interviewing”: 2-3:30 p.m. Oct. 12
  • “Medications for Opioid Use Disorder Overview”: 12-1:30 p.m. Nov. 8.

Register now for the free series.

Opioid-related deaths continue to rise across Washington State, and with the rapid spread of fentanyl in other drugs, the challenges faced by care providers will likely continue. If you have questions or would be open to sharing work your facility has implemented to provide care for these patients, please contact Brittany Weiner at BrittanyW@wsha.org. (Brittany Weiner)
