DOH announces Certificate of Need listening sessions by facility type

August 30, 2022

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) announced that it will host a series of facility-specific listening sessions between September 2022 and January 2023 as part of its Certificate of Need (CN) rulemaking. DOH will hold general listening sessions, as well as listening sessions for hospitals, hospice, PCI, home health, ESRD, nursing homes, ambulatory surgical facilities and tertiary services. The hospital-specific sessions are scheduled for:

  • 9/16/22 (1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.)
  • 10/14/22 (10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.)
  • 11/9/22 (5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m.)
  • 1/11/23 (4:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.)

According to DOH’s listening session announcement, the goals for the CN rule projects are “to update the rules to align with the current public health landscape, provide more equitable processes and rules wherever possible, and simplify the CN rules as much as possible making the CN process less complex for providers seeking to enter the health care system with Washington.” Click here to download the full schedule of listening sessions.
