The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has issued proposed rules altering the state trauma designation process. The proposed rules will establish new requirements and criteria for assessing the need for, and approval of, additional level I and II trauma services in the state.
Under the proposed rules, DOH will conduct a trauma system assessment to evaluate access to care at level I and level II trauma services, with the goal of avoiding under-utilized or overburdened trauma services.
Interested parties may comment on the proposed rules through July 11 via the DOH Rules Comment page, emailing DOH directly at traumadesignation@doh.wa.gov or attending the virtual public hearing DOH hearing. Register here for the virtual public hearing, which is scheduled for July 11 at 1:00 p.m. (Zosia Stanley)
