Commissioner Kreidler Extends Insurer Prohibition on Surprise Billing and Copays for COVID Testing Services through April 28

Today, Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler extended through April 28 two emergency orders relating to COVID-19 testing services. The emergency orders requiring health insurers to waive copays and deductibles for COVID-19 testing and protect consumers from receiving surprise bills for lab fees related to medically necessary COVID-19 testing. The order waiving cost-sharing applies to all state-regulated health insurance plans and short-term, limited-duration medical plans. More information is available here.
