The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it is extending the deadline until October 31, 2017 for correction to the S-10 forms completed by hospitals. WSHA is providing resources, including a webinar to assist hospitals with the correction process. CMS is transitioning to use of the S-10 cost report form as the basis its calculation of uncompensated care for disproportionate share hospital (DSH) distributions. However, states and hospitals face reductions to their DSH allotments under the S-10, some due to errors and omissions in reporting causing undercalculation of uncompensated care.
WSHA, by special arrangement with Toyon Associates, is providing a webinar to assist hospitals interested in correcting their S-10 filings. Please join us next Wednesday, October 11 at noon for an educational webinar on the recent CMS updates on reporting of uncompensated care costs and the revised deadline to submit corrections. The webinar will address the new CMS instructions, as well as the associated complexities, to provide hospitals with valuable insight. For purposes of worksheet S-10 revisions, amended cost reports that begin during federal fiscal years 2014 and 2015 are due to Medicare Administrative Contractors no later than October 31, 2017.
