Changes to WSHA’s government affairs leadership

July 18, 2018

As we communicated to members this spring, WSHA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Chris Bandoli will leave his role at WSHA August 10, becoming a full-time lobbyist in Olympia. We are pleased to announce that Chelene Whiteaker, most recently WSHA’s Senior Director of Policy Development, will take over the position, leading our legislative efforts in Olympia and Washington, D.C.

Chelene has been with WSHA for about a dozen years. Her smarts combined with her deep knowledge of policy make her well-known among our staff, our members, and state agency and legislative staff. She is highly invested in WSHA and our members’ success and understands the important role public policy plays in that success. Chelene’s emphasis will be on policy development, member engagement and team leadership.

We are also thrilled to have Chris Bandoli transition to a new role as an on-the-ground lobbyist for WSHA. Chris loves direct lobbying and working the halls of Olympia, so he gets to do what he really wants to do, and we add a skilled lobbyist to our team to help us handle the flood of legislation we expect in the 2019 long session.

With Chelene’s promotion, we are now recruiting for a talented government affairs policy director to join our team. If you know of someone who has the skills and experience for this position, and who would be a great fit for WSHA, please encourage he or she to apply.

Please help me in congratulating Chelene on her new role!

Sincerely,

Cassie Sauer
