Celebrating the holidays throughout Washington State

December 30, 2019

Health systems and providers throughout Washington are celebrating the holidays this year with their own special festivities. Here are a few of the ways WSHA members make this time of year unique through giving thanks:

Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital
Every year at Christmas, Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital in Yakima hosts a holiday meal for team members. This cherished annual event has been going on for more than 38 years, and usually feeds around 2,100 of their nearly 3,000 staff members. This year, attendees can look forward to steak (it takes nearly 800 lbs. of steak to feed everyone!), fettuccini alfredo and more! Santa usually drops by for a visit and much fun is had by all!

Kittitas Valley Healthcare
While they rejoice this holiday season, Kittitas Valley Healthcare is also reflecting, remembering and honoring local law enforcement for the service and sacrifice they make to keep their communities safe. They remember Kittitas County Deputy Ryan Thompson, whom they lost in the line of duty in March 2019, and those he knew and loved. We will never forget. Kittitas Valley Fire & Rescue helped KVH Engineers create the “thin blue line” tribute for our community.

Harborview Medical Center
Harborview Medical Center celebrated the holiday season with the annual Children’s Holiday Party which saw 1,000 families visit. Staff also handed out more than 550 gift bags. The party benefited vulnerable patient families and has been sponsored by Harborview for more than 25 years.

Happy Holidays from all of us at WSHA!
