At Critical Risk: Rural Hospitals and Health Care

The Critical Access Hospital program is a lifeline for 38 rural hospitals in our state. These hospitals are the anchor of health care in their rural communities and an important component of Washington’s health care system.  They serve rural communities and stabilize complex patients for transport to larger urban facilities.

Both the federal and state governments are considering making significant cuts to the Critical Access Hospital program. The cuts threaten their very viability. This page provides information to help fight these cuts and maintain this vital cornerstone of our health care system.
