In past years, the state of Washington contracted with Clifton Gunderson, LLP to conduct these federally-mandated audits. In January of this year, Clifton Gunderson merged with accounting firm Larson Allen, with their regulatory healthcare practice becoming PHBV Partners. In addition to Washington, PHBV Partners also serve as the audit contractor for approximately 18 states plus the District of Columbia, including Texas, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Michigan, Alabama and Mississippi. As a result, the same experienced team that has conducted the DSH audit in Washington in the past will be performing the audit again this year. PHBV Partners will be presenting a DSH Audit Introductory Session related to the 2009 and 2010 DSH audits. The session will cover an overview of the DSH Audit Rule, a summary of the procedures performed, and discussion of the documents to be provided by the hospital and the State. The session will focus on updates from previous year audits. A question and answer period will follow.
