Critical
Access Hospitals: Protecting an Essential Community Resource
Wednesday, October 26th : 12 noon-1:00 p.m
A cornerstone of the Washington State health care system is under attack and now is the time to protect it!
Critical Access Hospitals in
Washington State provide a lifeline within their communities and act as
partners with larger rural and urban hospitals. These small hospitals
serve as critical bridges within our health care network. The Health Care Authority’s recent list of
proposed cuts includes a $22 million reduction in Medicaid
fee-for-service payments to Critical Access Hospitals.
Adding in Medicaid managed care payments and federal Medicaid
matching funds brings the total loss to an overwhelming $69 million.
This is a staggering cut of 48 percent of Medicaid payments for
hospitals that serve an enormous number of Medicaid patients. This will be catastrophic to these hospitals
and the services they provide.
Please
join us for a discussion of strategy as we fight to stop these cuts and
maintain Critical Access Hospitals and the essential services they
provide to communities across our state.
