The Washington State Hospital
Association will be hosting a short education series on swing beds.
This series will include three web casts discussing an array
of information on swing beds. Included will be background
and regulatory information, and financial, clinical, and community
implications of having a swing bed program in your
hospital. We hope to bring everyone up to date on current uses of swing
beds and ideas for the future as changes in health care
continue to unfold.
The first part of this series will be a web cast on Monday, January 24th detailing
background and financial implications of having swing beds in rural
hospitals in Washington
State.
It is designed to inform rural hospitals about some advantages
and
disadvantages of developing or enhancing your swing bed program.
Please join us Monday, January 24th at
noon to learn:
- How one swing bed program was built to bring more business into a
rural hospital
- Background and operational regulations to think about when
developing a swing bed program
- Financial implications of a swing bed program
Stay tuned for information on two
additional web casts in the next few months, which will discuss
clinical and community
implications of swing bed use and follow up on emerging information
that you should know.
The featured speakers
include Rodger
McCollum,
CEO of Snoqualmie Valley Hospital and two of his clinical staff, Shawn Boynton
and Philip Koziol
who bring many years of clinical experience, including building
the swing bed program at Snoqualmie
Valley Hospital. Our
other featured speaker is Mark Hollan of
Independent Healthcare Consultants, LLP. He has worked as a financial
consultant for many hospitals in Washington State
to provide consulting on developing a swing bed program
operationally and financially.
Participation in the web
