WSHA Provides CMS Price Transparency Rule Resources

November 18, 2020

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Final Transparency Rule requires hospitals to post standard charge information, including negotiated rates in a machine-readable format and provide information for 300 “shoppable services” in a consumer-friendly, searchable format. The rule is effective Jan. 1, 2021.

WSHA’s Bulletin detailing the rule can be found here.

WSHA also provided a webinar regarding the CMS Price Transparency Rule, which included an overview of the rule requirements, as well as the status of hospital advocacy efforts.  Slides from the webinar are posted here.

CMS has also provided resources on its website , including a Frequently Asked Questions document and outlines of basic steps for implementation. (Andrew Busz, AndrewB@wsha.org).
