WSHA enhances Rural Quality Award Program

June 10, 2022

WSHA has enhanced its Rural Quality Award Program to better recognize the hard work and dedication exemplified by our rural members.

The CAH Achievement of Quality Excellence program will provide formal recognition for Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) that display quality excellence through their participation in data submission for the Health Care Authority’s Medicaid Quality Incentive. Scoring is total points divided by the number of eligible measures; hospitals with a score of 5 or more will receive a plaque honoring their achievement at a WSHA leadership event in 2023. More information on measures and scoring is available on the WSHA Quality Incentive Page. Data submission begins on July 1, 2022.

WSHA will continue to honor a rural hospital completing an exceptional quality improvement project through its Rural Quality Everyday Extraordinary Award. Successful applications should outline a project addressing a significant problem, employ a data-driven approach, consider culture of safety in implementing a solution and explain what results were achieved. Additionally projects should be scalable for wider adaptation by other rural hospitals. Applications for this award will now be accepted year-round with an annual deadline of April 1 to be considered for that year’s honor. Visit the award resource page for more information or to submit an application.
