Washington Hospital Services’ peer review program offering expanded services

April 11, 2018

Starting this year, Washington Hospital Services’ Health Care Quality Services (WHS-HQS) began offering two new services: Onsite Orthopedic Peer Review and Onsite OB Peer Review. While most specialty peer reviews WHS-HQS conducts are remote and require redacted charts, these new offerings are in response to the ever-expanding needs of rural hospitals, and they will be similar to the onsite peer review visits many of our members already receive from our ED physicians. Onsite visits are designed to meet CMS requirements for CAHs and include up to eight hours of review time as well as a summary report and/or presentation to staff.

WHS-HQS has also added six new specialties to its remote peer review panel. Current specialties represented now include:

  • Anesthesia
  • Cardiology
  • Emergency medicine
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology
  • General surgery
  • Infectious disease
  • Neonatology
  • Nephrology
  • Neurology
  • OBGYN
  • Oncology
  • Orthopedics
  • Pediatric orthopedics
  • Plastic surgery
  • Radiology
  • Rheumatology
  • Urology
  • ENT
  • Wound care

If you need peer review services for a specialty that is not listed, WHS-HQS can source that specialty for you. If you are interested in learning more, please contact WHS Peer Review Coordinator Rich Boucher. (Rich Boucher)
