This Donate Life Month, LifeNet Health asks you to have ‘the talk’ about donation

April 7, 2022

Every April, LifeNet Health joins the nation in celebrating Donate Life Month – with the goal of encouraging as many people as possible to give others a second chance at life by registering as donors.

Because the decision to donate starts at home, LifeNet Health is also encouraging everyone to go one step beyond registering and talk to your family and friends about your decision to donate.

Research shows that having ‘the talk’ is an important first step to increasing support for donation. Here are some facts that can help start the conversation:

  • More than 100,000 Americans are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant.
  • Registering as a donor takes minutes and has the potential to make a lifelong, even lifesaving, impact on countless others.
  • One donor can save nine lives through organ donation and restore the health of more than 150 individuals through tissue donation. One cornea donor can restore sight for two people. A donor who provides gifts for research can support medical breakthroughs that end up helping thousands.

LifeNet Health believes that if we all start talking, one family at a time, we can give others a second chance at life. Individuals interested in signing up as a donor can learn more about how to do so at the DMV or at RegisterMe.org. Learn more about the LifeNet Health Talk campaign online here.
