In a re-accreditation survey conducted in April 2016, PeaceHealth Peace Island was shown to not only meet all regulatory requirements of the National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (NIAHO), but exceed benchmarks.

Harrison Medical Center recognized for knee and hip surgeries
Harrison Medical Center was recognized as a “Blue Distinction Center” by Premera Blue Cross for its knee and hip replacement surgeries. Harrison was among five CHI Franciscan Health hospitals that were honored for spine, knee or hip care.

Hospital and school district collaboration results in grant
Newport School District was recently awarded a $31,600 grant to enact a School Population Health Program. The program is made possible in part by a grant from the Group Health Foundation and allows the Newport School District and Newport Hospital and Health Services (NHHS) to share a nurse who will complement the services being provided on both campuses.

Lincoln Hospital sees upgrades
Lincoln Hospital has been upgrading technologies on site, increasing outpatient services, developing a home-monitoring system, and pioneering telemedicine technologies for emergent and specialty services.

Locals learn how to cook for dietary needs
The Samaritan Healthcare Foundation community relations committee teamed up with Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center (CB Tech) and Michael’s on the Lake to host its first-ever “Winning the Food Fight” event, teaching how to cook for different diets.

Volunteers valued at PeaceHealth St. Joseph
The hospital has about 400 people who regularly volunteer their time and expertise. About 125 are students from Western Washington University, gaining experience in their chosen fields.

Zender family and PeaceHealth nuns have in common their 1890s roots
Dale Zender, chief executive of hospital services for PeaceHealth’s Northwest region since July 2015, was honored as the 2015 Whatcom County Business Person of the Year.
