New resources to support appropriate opioid prescribing

January 26, 2017

Like the rest of the U.S., Washington State is in the midst of an opioid crisis, and a recent report from the Washington Health Alliance highlights wide variation in how opioids are prescribed across the state. To help support providers and health systems with appropriate opioid prescribing, the Washington Health Alliance and the Dr. Robert Bree Collaborative have developed easy-to-use fact sheets based on national CDC guidelines.

We are pleased to have these fact sheets as a resource and hope they will be used broadly in clinical practice. WSHA plans on leveraging these fact sheets as we work with our hospitals and CMOs to improve opioid prescribing patterns and treatment options. We encourage you to distribute these resources as broadly as you can. We are also excited about the number of legislative and clinical efforts underway to address the opioid crisis. (Ian Corbridge)
