MultiCare Covington opens doors to inpatient hospital

April 25, 2018

MulitCare Covington exteriorMultiCare Health System opened the doors to its new inpatient hospital at Covington Medical Center on April 24. The four-story facility has 48 adult surgical beds (including six pediatric/adult swing beds), and a 10-bed family birth center with private rooms and in-suite bathtubs. It also has three operating rooms with pre- and post-op rooms, recovery areas, a surgical waiting room, and an inpatient pharmacy and lab.

Construction on the expansion began in 2014, and it connects directly to the Covington Medical Center emergency department.

“We are so excited to serve our community with this project,” says Mark Smith, president and chief operating officer of MultiCare Auburn Medical Center and MultiCare Covington Medical Center. Covington Mayor Jeff Wagner read an official proclamation at the ceremony to welcome the completion of new facility and proclaimed it as a “day of new beginnings” for Covington.

MulitCare Covington interiorThe facility is named the Cecchettini Pavilion, named after Diane Cecchettini, RN, who served two terms as WSHA board chair and served as MultiCare’s first female president and CEO, serving from 1999-2014. Diane began planning the Covington expansion during her time as CEO.

“Diane’s vision and her leadership, and the steady, continual work that has been done here at Covington brought us to this moment today,” Mark says. “We want to recognize and thank her for her vision and her commitment over the years.”
