Audience: This webinar is intended for CEOs, CFOs, Chief Medical Officers, and Quality Leaders at Washington State non-Critical Access Hospitals.

Purpose:  MACRA, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act passed by Congress in 2015, fundamentally changes how physicians are paid by Medicare beginning in 2019.  Implementation will begin next year.  While the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is still in the process of finalizing rules, it is clear the new system will have a significant effect on revenues and costs for both physicians and hospitals.  Hospitals need to understand the implications of the new system for physicians they employ as well as for independent physicians practicing in their hospitals.

Objectives:

  • Understand the two basic payment options in MACRA and how they may affect physician payment in the near future.
  • Hear from Harold Miller, a nationally recognized expert, on the implications of MACRA for your hospital and your physicians.
  • Begin to consider if your hospital and physicians want to develop and/or participate in eligible alternative payment models.
  • Understand the resources WSHA plans to offer.
Featured Speaker:
Harold D. Miller is the President and CEO of the Center for Healthcare Quality and Payment Reform (CHQPR), a national policy center that facilitates improvements in healthcare payment and delivery systems.  He also serves as Adjunct Professor of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University.  Mr. Miller serves as one of 11 members of the Congressionally-created Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee.
