Washington’s 2016 Leaders in Health Care Gala Awards Dinner, sponsored by Seattle Business Magazine, will be held the evening of Feb. 25 at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront hotel. This year, former American Hospital Association (AHA) President Rich Umbdenstock will be honored with a lifetime achievement award. Prior to taking on his role with the AHA, Rich lived in Washington State, where he worked in a variety of roles, including health care governance consulting, hospital administration, health system governance, management and integration.
Leaders in 10 other categories — including health care research, community outreach, medical technology and health care delivery — will also be recognized. The finalists for top health care executive in the Puget Sound region are June Altaras, Swedish system chief executive and chief executive for Swedish Seattle (First Hill, Cherry Hill), and Sarah Patterson, executive vice president/chief operating officer for Virginia Mason. The finalists for top health care executive outside the Puget Sound region are Tom Martin, just retired CEO of Lincoln Hospital, and Rand Wortman, president and CEO of Kadlec Health System.
