Join WSHA and the HCA in opioid misuse prevention and education campaign

June 30, 2022

WSHA is a committed partner in the Washington State Opioid Response Plan and is collaborating with the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) to support hospitals and their communities in opioid stewardship.

A focus of this work is creating education materials and tools through the Starts with One campaign. These campaign materials have been customized for hospitals and health care providers to use to talk with patients about responsible opioid use and prevent opioid misuse. Many of our members gave invaluable feedback to help refine the materials, and we thank you for sharing your time and insight.

Now, hospital staff are invited to attend a webinar from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. on July 13, 2022, to learn more about the Starts with One campaign and how to gain access to campaign tools, messaging and future materials. Register online here.

As health care providers, you influence the choices your patients make. By encouraging them to take one simple step – like locking up medications in the home or disposing of unused pills at a secure medication disposal kiosk – you are helping them make choices that protect the health of their loved ones and prevent opioid misuse in our communities. We hope you will join us for this webinar and the campaign.

We especially encourage chief medical officers, chief nursing officers, quality leaders, care providers, mid-level physician assistants, ARNPs and pharmacists, emergency leadership, critical care and medical/surgical unit clinical leadership and hospital marketing/communications teams to participate.
