Getting opioids out of your community – A new drug take-back program

July 28, 2016

cordant-health-solutions-logoCordant Health Solutions recently released a drug take-back program that aims to keep unused medications off the streets and out of the hands of those who may be at risk for abuse.

The program is simple and has no cost to patients or participating facilities. Patients can pick up a take-back envelope at a participating site, fill it with unused medications and ship it directly to a disposal facility via the USPS. Cordant’s take-back program is a new addition to its existing services aimed at supporting hospitals and clinics in addressing the opioid epidemic. Expanding access to drug take-back programs supports the work of the Washington State Medical Association’s (WSMA) and WSHA’s Joint Opioid Safe Practice Task Force, which is developing state solutions to address the growing opioid epidemic. (Paul Unsworth)
