Comments needed on Washington State Medical Commission’s proposed opioid prescribing

August 8, 2018

The Medical Quality Assurance Commission (MQAC) is seeking comments on its newly released proposed rule on opioid prescribing, as required by House Bill 1427. The current proposal is drastically improved from previous iterations, but WSHA and the Washington State Medical Association’s Opioid Taskforce are still concerned about the volume of administrative burden and liabilities the rules place on providers and hospitals. Review WHSA and WSMA’s official comments and submit your comments to MQAC at medical.rules@doh.wa.gov. (WSHA would also appreciate it if you consider sharing a copy of your comments with WSHA Government Affairs Director of Patient Safety Ian Corbridge at ianc@wsha.org.) MQAC will also hold an in-person meeting on the proposed rule at 2pm August 22 at the Hotel RL, at 2300 Evergreen Park Drive SW in Olympia. Read more in a WSHA bulletin. (Ian Corbridge)
