TeamSTEPPS for Washington Hospitals
Culture may be as important as strategy in building capacity to achieve your patient safety goals. Effective team communication is a key feature of a culture of patient safety. Experts from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET) will teach the concepts of TeamSTEPPS during this special Safe Table meeting. TeamSTEPPS is a teamwork system, developed by the Department of Defense and AHRQ, currently undergoing national implementation to improve patient outcomes by improving communication & teamwork skills among health care professionals.
Safe Tables offer the opportunity for hospitals to work together to address patient safety issues. These protected learning collaboratives provide a place for staff to share best practices, seek advice from peers, and learn from national experts in a confidential setting. Safe Table meetings are held both in person and over web conferences.
Materials and slides from past Safe Tables are available to member hospitals who have signed the Safe Table confidentiality agreement. For more information, or to request presentation materials, please contact Carol Wagner.
