Nurse Sensitive Quality Indicators Project

NSQI Background

The Nurse Sensitive Quality Indicators project developed from the collaborative effort by the Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA), the Northwest Organization of Nurse Executives (NWONE) and nursing union representatives to consider and recommend specific policy, program, or legislative changes related to nurse staffing and quality of care. All Washington hospitals have been asked to report data on five selected nurse sensitive quality indicators:

  • Patient falls,
  • Patient falls with injury,
  • Pressure ulcers,
  • Nursing care hours per patient day, and
  • Skill mix.

  • NSQI project leaders will find project information, archives of the NSQI Update, answers to frequently asked questions and dates for future webcasts on this page.
