Administrative Simplification
Administrative simplification—reducing the hassle factor, streamlining policies and procedures and decreasing nonproductive work
WSHA has focused on Administrative Simplifications for more than 10 years. As part of that commitment, WSHA is an active participant in the Washington Healthcare Forum (the Forum), a statewide organization committed to improving the health care system.
Working with providers, health plans, the State Legislature, and the Office of the Insurance Commissioner, the Forum has unveiled over twenty policies and procedures for administrative simplification. Among them are a better, more centralized approach to practitioner credentialing. These policies, and details of new initiatives the Forum is developing, are all available at the Forum web site.
In addition to administrative simplification initiatives, the forum web site provides information on the Forum's work to coordinate implementation of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability ACT (HIPAA) electronic transactions.
The Forum's administrative simplification efforts are now coordinated with and operationally consolidated under the umbrella of OneHealthPort (www.onehealthport.com).
